Visits to Santa are annual traditions in most families…ours was no different..
Years ago it was a bit of an additional expense to have the photo taken (only the host store was allowed to take them signs even said .. no photos) it was a couple of weeks at least, before the photos came in the mail…….. how times have changed.. But financial hesitation some years meant that not everyone had their visit recorded. . …the visit was what counted any way wasn't it? I need to be content with those photos that we are fortunate to have ..
As time went on, all the church Christmas Dinners invited Santa to vista . The gratis price was right and no special trip was required.. The delight was the same…the chat was too! Channa may not have been the only one not seeming to out grow her need to visit Father Christmas ! She is just the only one with photographs to survive and to document..
Jamie's early Santa encounter was not a positive experience…..he soon cottoned to the idea and routine. Megan often was shy, but Nova… came to find Santa a hoot !
There were two years that Santa's'" visit was a personal visit.. right into our living room…! No visit"" to"" Santa that year but a visit ''from' Santa.
The year was 1968 when John Ross had just finished a bout of chicken pox.. and Jamie was in a full blown session ! The next house visit was in 1982, all were feeling well. Santa just happened to be touring with Home Teachers that night.. and stopped by.. what a Surprise!
Channa was playing it cool, Jill was not impressed with the photo taking, Sparky was impressed, Eden was trying to understand, Megan was cute and coy and Nova was beside herself with excitement.
Now ……those that recall that night, do you have a different take on the feelings ?
